The black tipped red berries look like some berries we have here which are used by goldsmiths to weigh gold. It seems that each of these berries weighs the same.

Lovely photos! I really like those berries. They are rosary peas ('Abrus precatorius'), an Indian native that was indeed used as a weight, as well as jewelry. See: http://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/node/23

Floridagirl, you always amaze me with your knowledge of plants!! Thanks so much for the info...had no idea what this berry was. It's interesting that this is considered an invasive plant...it's growing in a butterfly garden in a small state park a few blocks from my house. I wonder if it's growing naturally or if it was purposely planted?! I'll have to ask the ranger!

Lotusleaf, it looks as though you're correct in your assumption of the berry!

Thank you, everyone for your kind words!

Nice pics Kimberly. Your fountain grass made me look up some ornamental grasses this morning as that's what we've decided to put into our big shell planters. Either pink or purple muhly grass, the purple if we can find it.

Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

FL, good luck with your ornamental grass. Hope you'll post photos...I'd love to see your shell planters too! This fountain grass was a "must" for me...it never grew well in my garden up north.

It's amazing what you can capture with your camera when you really take the time to look, isn't it?
