I'm happy to report many Flourishing Efflorescence this month. It's been really hot and humid, even more so than usual in sunny South Florida. However, many of my landscape residents apparently love it! You be the judge...
The Dwarf Powderpuff is a favorite for all things that buzz,
especially this busy bumble bee!
This is a roadside special I picked up but am unsure what it is. The foliage is iris-like, but the bloom doesn't look like an iris to me.
Any takers?
This is another bloom from the same plant. It likes very wet soil so I keep it in a pot.
The Tillandsia (airplants) are really loving the rainforest environment!
This is my son's air plant. Last year, it only sent out one bloom stalk...this year two!
The purple Angelonia sing their angelic praises!
Pretty, native Cassia.
Another bright, cheerful native, the American Beauty Berry.
The purple peaking out of the lush green foliage is very striking!
This peachy dwarf Canna decorates my front entry garden.
This little peachy bromelaid planted in a white bird of paradise stump also adourns the front entry garden. It kindof blends with the mulch in this photo!
All of the Lantana enjoy the heat and wet conditions, just like this L. Bandana Orange Sunrise,
Lantana Trailing Purple,
Lantana Gold Mound,
and Lantana Trailing Pure White.
The butterflies can't get enough of these little bouquets!
On the flip side, the Firecracker plant has produced its blooms very sparingly this season. I don't mind...I really like the delicate foliage.
The grassy Liriope is happy and sharing some pretty lavendar spikes.
The rainforest conditions are heavenly for this moss covered tree trunk that is also hosting an air plant.
Moisture begets mushrooms!
Here's the culprit that keeps chewing my daylilies down to the ground.
I wonder if this Monarch butterfly is laying eggs on the milkweed?!
Had to share this pretty bromelaid covered in fallen purple bougainvillea blooms.
The atmosphere is the perfect companion for the heliconia - first bud!
I can't wait for it to open!
I'm so happy to report the new Chenille plants given to me by my friend Adina, aka the Manure Maven, are over their transplant shock, rooting well and sending out little baby chenille blooms!!
And this awesome little Portulaca variety volunteered itself this year. My neighbors tell me it's a weed but I won't pull it...it's really a lovely ground cover!
There's more blooms and color in my garden, but you won't have time to check them all out if you plan on heading over to Carol's May Dreams Gardens and TootsieTime's Fertilizer Friday / Flaunt Your Flowers to see what else is blooming !

Yay for the heliconia! What kind is it? Oh, and I think that the air plant on the tree is actually a fern, like a whisk fern or shoelace fern. Speaking of airplant, the tillandsia is beautiful... I'll be trying some outdoors this winter too, but only the hardiest kinds.
Your garden is loving this hot humid weather isn't it? Beautiful Tillandsia blooms. I bought one little one when I went to Bok Tower earlier this summer. They are neat plants.
Love your powderpuff, very pretty! Is your Chenille the ground cover one, or the kind that grow taller producing the large flowers? I have the ground cover type, am looking for the bigger one :) Your summer blooms are all very colorful!
Great photographs Kimberly.
Have a great weekend.
Costas
Your airplants are lovely. I can never get them to bloom :( Have a nice weekend!
So many wonderful plants ... particularly liked the gorgeous little Chenille plant blooms! The Liriope is just gorgeous ... and I love the colour of that Canna.
RG, you're correct! Thank you so much for the ID on the fern in the tree...I assumed an airplant. I looked it up and found it's common name is the Shoe String fern, or vittaria sm...very common to cabbage/sabal palms and oak hammocks in S Florida. Cool!!!
NK, I love the air plants! I'm so surprised at the variety. Of course, I find them everywhere naturally occuring, but there are some really different ones that can be purchased at shows. I'll keep my eyes wide open this winter during the sales!
Ami, the chenille that I have is the smaller ground cover. I've seen the large bush but don't own one. I think that maybe Floridagirl has one, to my recollection.
I really like the airplants. It just shows how natural your garden is. I have angelonia too, in pink and violet. I am trying to take some cuttings and hopefully it can grow to be new plants.
You know, that really stings, Kimberly. Here I am in the dry, dry desert and you're just bragging away about all your rain. Thanks, thanks a lot.
Haha, just kidding. Great photos.
Your Beauty Berry bush is looking good. I have two grown from seed several years ago. They have the green berry clusters on several branches but have not yet turned purple here.Hopefully later this month.
Hi Kimberly. Your garden does seem to be enjoying the heat. The Powder Puff blooms are so pretty. I love the airy blooms.I did not know what your found blossom was but it is so pretty. There is always someone around who can help us answer these questions. I usually have a lot too. LOL!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I've never seen a powder puff. It's so unusual and cute as can be! Beautiful pics!
your plants are almost similar to what we have here, of course we almost have the same climate, though of course is a little milder than ours. That Angelonia i haven't seen here though, i love it. If i can get some i am sure it will live happy here too. In your older posts i also love the different varieties of lantana, though a bit not so good scent, and your caladiums. They look so healthy there. thanks
What intriguing and lovely plants! Delightful for landscaping designs. I do believe your cute little rabbit was visiting my senior mom's gardening pots today as well. :)
Hello,
It's a beautiful post.
Have a nice week end.
Beautiful lantana collection and I love, love, love that moss-covered trunk! Beautiful!
That trunk is amazing Kimberley - so many beautiful things that I know so little about.
Hope DH has recovered from last weekend's little trip. I rescued that wheel as someone was going to through it out - I told them I would give it a good home.
aloha friend
it has been awhile hasn't it, thanks for connecting again :)
you have some beautiful blooms today, so much to see here in your tropical garden - everything is just thriving!
i'm loving that you have your tillandsias on the tree, pretty cool
Wowza...You have things flowering that I don't have flowering....and it seems we are in the same area. Dayum!
All looks loverly!
Great blooms, specially the lantanas, I have great luck with the yellow one but my blue and white are not blooming this year
I love all the different lantana. How big does the Bandana Orange Sunrise get? I know some lantana will get very large.
I love the picture of the dwarf powderpuff and the varieties of lantana are especially lovely!
Your unknown looks something like what the Californians call a ??matiljia? poppy.
Lovely blossoms Kimberly. Your bumble looks very happy with that Dwarf Powderpuff! Sorry your bunny seems to have a taste for your daylilies, I thought they were immune to most garden pests. I just love the Beauty Berry, and the Liriope blooms too. But mushrooms in August? I wasn't expecting that!
Great flowers - great photos, Kim! I love your Portulaca.. each year I am so tempted to pick them up for the summer - next year is a for sure! (...and the name - way cool...)
It's so refreshing to see so many gorgeous blooms in your garden, Kimberly. I love to learn about plants that don't grow here in my own area--or those that I have never seen before. I enjoyed your post very much;-)
