Spaghetti Palm

You've probably heard of Spaghetti Squash,

but have you heard of Shaghetti Palm?!?!

I don't usually allow my pygmy date seed pods to open up as they are tremendously messy.  They got away from me this year, though, and opened up before I realized it!  However, what a great opportunity to notice how fascinating the pods, seeds and strands are!

This pod just opened.  The seeds are still neatly packed inside.

To enjoy other macro shots, be sure to visit Maia at  Macro Flower Pictures for Macro Saturday.

Have a great weekend!

Wow....I never saw this before, even though we have a lot of Pygmy Palms growing in our area. Kind of cool looking.

I want to thank you for your thoughtful comments :-)

I've never seen that seed pod before. Especially not in macro! It is really cool looking. I like the comparison to the spaghetti squash. You always think of the neatest presentations.

Exquisite strands, flowing freely to amaze us. Beautiful. ~bangchik

They do produce quite a fancy bloom. It must take a lot of energy. I've cut mine off this year so the palms can put their energy into producing new leaves to replace the ones damaged by the cold weather. Some great shots!
